Going downhill should be the easiest part of your ride seeing as you aren’t trying to heave your own body weight up a steep incline. In fact, I find it my biggest Nemesis, especially when I was a really new rider and the reality of clocking up speeds whilst balancing on two wheels that were the width of a thumb was blindingly clear.

It’s a scary thought that your bike (that you are physically attached to I might add) is more than ready to chuck you off if you run over the smallest pebble.

But, not to instil too much fear, the Global Cycling Network have come out with a helpful video tutorial that will really improve your downhill technique so that it makes it less of a white knuckle ride and something to actually enjoy!
